Practical guide
Text measurements and their limits
Character count, word count, sentence count and reading time answer different questions. Unicode text can include composed characters and scripts that do not use spaces between words, so simple counts are estimates rather than linguistic analysis. Readability formulas are useful only for the languages they were developed for. Working locally keeps drafts in the browser unless a feature specifically requests an external service.
Choose an appropriate tool
Find words that match patterns without claiming a complete lexicon. Start with the primary interactive tool, then select focused companion tools for calculations and analysis. Each companion page displays its formula, inputs, example and limitations.
Understanding results
All calculators depend on assumptions. Inspect units and check whether the result represents an approximation, a measured value or a randomly selected outcome. There are no invented live results or universal translation guarantees here.
